SINCE 1979, CHINA SEA MARINE TRADING
has been outfitting sailing ships, attracting collectors of historical and unusual artifacts, adding authenticity to movie & TV productions, gaining recognition from national news media and entertaining thousands of visitors. China Sea moved from Baltimore’s historic Fells Point waterfront to Portland, Maine’s Old Port in 1999. Since early 2009 China Sea has worked out of a barn/workshop in Gray, Maine. China Sea’s storefront has served as cover photo for the ADC Chesapeake Bay Regional Wall Map, and was featured on the cover of New York City’s phone book and on subway cards.

CHINA SEA evokes all that is mysterious about the sea and its history. One blogger has called China Sea a hybrid of antique store and historical society. A fashion magazine writer declared: It doesn't get any more Maine than this. Packed in a dusty, ship-like space are more vintage peacoats, classic seaman caps, lobster pots, porthole windows, sextants and brass anchors than likely exist on the high seas.
Singapore, a greenwing Macaw, often greets visitors to China Sea with a big hello.
